Aerospace and Defense
Xilinx has launched two new versions of the Versal ACAP product, adding a space grade XQR Versal product portfolio and a defense grade XQ reinforced Versal product portfolio.
Space grade universal ACAP
The XQR universal space level product portfolio includes new universal artificial intelligence cores and universal AI Edge series devices, providing reinforced organic ball grid array packaging with expansion qualification and aging, supporting Mil-STd-883 B-class flow and full radiation tolerance. These XQR devices are designed for on-board data processing and machine learning (ML) inference in satellite and space 2.0 applications, which is an important acceleration based on the successful launch of XQRKU060 in 2020.
XQR Universal ACAP is a high-performance and adaptable device that supports complete reconfiguration on track. The goal of the space grade XQR Versal AI core device is to be launched later in Q2 2022.
Defense grade universal ACAP
The XQ ruggedized device is a heterogeneous multi-core computing platform equipped with industry-leading AI/ML capabilities that can adapt to constantly evolving algorithms and the demanding environmental requirements of aerospace and defense applications. Based on Xilinx's 30-year tradition and continuous development in the industry, the latest product portfolio includes XQ AI Core, XQ AI Edge, XQ Prime, and XQ Premium series. The devices in this product portfolio are reinforced with packaging that meets the Mil-STd-883D group standard. The tin lead (Sn/Pb) content can completely alleviate tin whiskers and support optional M-temp (-55 ° C to+125 ° C). The goal of the XQ reinforced Versal product portfolio is to provide initial equipment by Q1 2022.

Xilinx Corporation (a global leader in programmable logic solutions) ® FPGAs and adaptive SOC bring tremendous value to the architecture of LiDAR sensors, as they can support advanced signal processing, point cloud preprocessing, and point cloud ML acceleration. Xilinx is a leading silicon supplier in the laser radar market.
Research on New Automotive Lidar by Xilinx and Strategy Analytics
According to a new strategic analysis report sponsored by Xilinx, approximately $1 billion has been invested in up to 100 different companies developing high-resolution LiDAR sensors, and adoption in the automotive market is accelerating. Xilinx FPGAs and adaptive SOC are deployed in these systems because they provide great flexibility and adaptability, offer high performance with low latency, and help meet fast time frames for market launch. Mark Fitzgerald, Service Director of Strategy Analytics autonomous vehicle, will participate in Xilinx at Adapt's fireside talk at 11:00 a.m. (Pacific Time) on September 15 to discuss the report results and provide market forecasts. Jim Cain, Vice President of Automotive Engineering, will also participate in the dialogue between Xilinx and Strategy Analytics in Baraja. A copy of the report "Automotive LiDAR: Improving ADAS and Autonomous Driving Sensor Suite" can be found in the Adapter 2021 Media Kit
Data Center
The Xilinx data center platform and plugin board solutions continue to drive strong demand from ultra large scale cloud customers and the fintech market.
Azure Synapse Spark Acceleration
Microsoft announces that Azure is now using their NP-VM FPGA-as-a-Service infrastructure, supported by Xilinx ® Alvio ™ Accelerator significantly improves the performance of Apache Spark on the Azure Synapse analytics platform. Alveo Acceleration has increased the data parsing speed of CSV and JSON file formats by 40 times, from 15MB/s on the CPU core to 7.7GB/s on Alveo. This eliminates a common bottleneck in Spark performance, as 90% of the Synapse Spark workload consists of CSV/JSON/Parquet files, Azure is providing significantly enhanced performance for their growing Synapse customer base.
Real time video transcoding SDK
Xilinx has released the Xilinx Video transcoding SDK, enabling streaming tools to build new services or migrate existing services more easily and quickly than ever before to leverage Xilinx acceleration. The video transcoding SDK is a complete solution, from runtime drivers to server resource management, and provides support for FFmpeg and C/C++APIs, ensuring that customers can immediately start developing streaming solutions. When used in conjunction with the Xilinx Alveo U30 media accelerator card, it provides industry-leading video transcoding performance, significantly increases channel density compared to alternative products, and has lower power consumption and total cost of ownership.
Industry and healthcare
Xilinx meets the growing demand for scalable healthcare and industrial IoT platforms with heterogeneous processing, I/O flexibility, hardware based deterministic control, and comprehensive solutions.
Kria Robot Stack
Xilinx is expanding the scope of the Kria module system beyond vision AI and is now equipping robot experts with a set of easy-to-use, adaptive, and hardware accelerated features and tools called the Kria Robot Stack (KRS). Built around the Robot Operating System (ROS), which is a framework for developing robot applications, KRS consists of a set of integrated utilities that help accelerate ROS 2 and Gazebo, achieving faster, safer, and more complete robot behavior. KRS provides an increasing number of reference designs, and over time, robot acceleration applications built by KRS will be available through the Xilinx App Store. KRS helps to leverage high-performance and low latency hardware acceleration in Xilinx devices, similar to how Vitis AI helps AI developers implement machine learning inference models in Xilinx devices.
Vitis Library for Medical Ultrasound
Xilinx has expanded its Vitis unified software platform for the first time to include an ultra fast imaging library optimized for the innovative Versal AI engine and targeting. These libraries are designed for medical ultrasound applications and can generate breakthrough performance of over 1000 frames per second in 64 channel, 200 line resolution ultrasound devices using only one Versal device.
Wired and wireless communication
From the edge to the cloud, Xilinx FPGAs and adaptive SOC remain the core of wired and wireless network devices driving global 5G deployment.
